When viewing a vendor or creating a new one in the OnSite system, there is an area for the Vendor Abbreviation.  This Abbreviation is used throughout the system.  It is important that it is filled in for ALL vendors.  The abbreviation is used when looking through a list of parts in the Product section, it is also used when picking items for an order as well as letting purchasing know what vendor to use.
